Rice’s project goal is a renovated facility that fully and flexibly supports academic and research programs and aspirations, and Rice’s institutional mission. The renovated Maxfield Hall will include office space for the School of Engineering that meets current Rice space standards. Renovated classrooms will meet contemporary accessibility regulations and maintain or increase the current number of seats. The entire facility, its exterior integrity, and all of its systems will be upgraded to comply with contemporary regulatory requirements, as well as Rice’s standards. A new elevator will serve the occupants. The renovated Hall will achieve Rice’s energy and sustainability objectives, including a LEED silver rating. Maxfield Hall’s exterior appearance will be preserved.
